Essential, Pro, or Elite: Which VitaminLawn Plan Fits a Cypress & Tomball Lawn?

Essential, Pro, or Elite: Which VitaminLawn Plan Fits a Cypress & Tomball Lawn?

Lawn Squad of Cypress & Tomball • October 2026 • Cypress & Tomball, TX

If you are reading this, you are probably comparing lawn care options and trying to figure out what you would actually be paying for. That is the right question to ask. Lawn care quotes can be hard to compare, because two companies can charge similar prices for very different amounts of work.

We would rather lay it out plainly. Here is what each of our VitaminLawn plans includes for homeowners in Cypress, Tomball, and the surrounding communities, what they cost to start, and how to decide which one makes sense for your yard.

What Every Plan Starts With

All three plans are built on the same foundation: pre-emergent crabgrass control and fertilization with weed control. Pre-emergent stops crabgrass and other annual weeds before they come up, which is much easier than fighting them once they have taken over. Fertilization feeds the lawn on a schedule that fits warm-season grasses like St. Augustine, Bermuda, and zoysia, and weed control handles what gets through.

What It Costs to Start

Our plans in Cypress and Tomball start at $65 per application, based on a 3,000 square foot lawn. Larger lawns cost more per visit, because they take more product and more time. The total for the year depends mainly on your lawn’s size and how many visits your plan includes. Quotes are based on the size of your lawn, so it is worth asking how yours was measured.

Essential: 6 Visits

Essential is simple, reliable lawn care for healthy growth and core weed control. It includes pre-emergent crabgrass control and fertilization and weed control across 6 visits.

Essential is a good fit for a lawn that is already in decent shape, gets good sun, and does not have a history of insects, fire ants, or disease. It covers the basics that make the biggest visible difference.

Pro: 8 Visits

Pro is our most popular plan. It includes everything in Essential, then adds surface insect control, one lawn treatment free, a root stimulant bonus, and unlimited service calls, across 8 visits.

Surface insect control matters here because pests like chinch bugs and armyworms can damage a lawn quickly in a Houston-area summer and fall. Unlimited service calls mean that if something comes up between scheduled visits, you can ask us to come back out. For most lawns in the area, Pro is where we would start the conversation.

Elite: 13 Visits

Elite is our top-level plan. It includes everything in Pro, then adds fire ant prevention, disease control, aeration, and a soil test, across 13 visits.

Elite is built for lawns that have more working against them. If your St. Augustine gets brown circles of large patch every fall, if fire ants keep coming back, if the soil is compacted, or if you have never known what is going on in your soil, Elite addresses all of it in one plan.

How Local Conditions Point to a Plan

Yards around here vary a lot. Wooded lots in Tomball, Magnolia, and Pinehurst deal with shade, leaf litter, and damp conditions that favor disease. Open lots on the prairie side of Cypress and Hockley get full sun, fire ants, and heavier soil that compacts. Neighborhoods across northwest Houston see chinch bugs in summer heat and large patch in cool, wet falls. The more of those your lawn deals with, the more a higher plan pays for itself.

If You Are Torn Between Two Plans

Base the choice on what your lawn has actually done over the last year, not on every problem it could have. A sunny lawn that has never had insect damage or fire ants does not need the top plan to look good. A lawn that browns out in circles every fall and has mounds along the fence probably does. If you are not sure, ask us to walk the lawn and tell you honestly which plan we think fits.

Why Aeration and a Soil Test Matter

Aeration pulls small cores of soil out of the lawn, which relieves compaction and lets water, air, and nutrients reach the roots. That matters most on heavy or compacted soil and in yards that see a lot of foot traffic. A soil test shows your soil’s pH and nutrient levels, so treatments are based on what your lawn actually needs instead of guesswork. Both come with Elite.

What a Plan Does Not Replace

A VitaminLawn plan covers treatments: feeding, weed control, and on the higher plans, insects, fire ants, disease, and aeration. It does not cover mowing or watering, and those habits matter just as much. A well treated lawn that is mowed too short or watered every evening in fall will still struggle. We are always happy to talk through mowing height and watering as part of a visit, because the plan works best when everything else lines up with it.

When to Start a Plan

You can start a plan at any time of year, but there is a real advantage to starting in fall or winter. Pre-emergent crabgrass control has to go down before crabgrass sprouts in late winter and early spring. A lawn that is already on a plan when the soil starts warming gets that first application on time, instead of chasing weeds that have already come up.

How to Compare Any Lawn Care Quote

Whether you choose us or someone else, here is what we have found works best when comparing quotes. Ask how many visits are included each year. Ask what happens at each visit, not just the plan name. Ask whether insect control, fire ants, disease control, and aeration are included or extra. Ask how the lawn was measured. And ask what happens if a problem shows up between visits.

Also ask whether the company is licensed. In Texas, businesses that apply pesticides to lawns for hire must be licensed through the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Our Satisfaction Guarantee

Your satisfaction matters to us. If you are not happy with the service, we will work to make it right. Ask your local Lawn Squad team for the details of the guarantee before you sign up, so you know exactly what to expect.

Common Mistakes

A few patterns show up when people shop for lawn care. Comparing price per visit without comparing how many visits are included. Choosing the cheapest plan for a lawn with a long history of disease or fire ants. Assuming insect control or aeration is included when it is not. And signing up without anyone actually walking the lawn first.

What the Right Plan Looks Like a Year From Now

Imagine this. It is next October. Last year the backyard had brown circles of large patch and fire ant mounds along the fence. This year the lawn is thick and even, the mounds are gone, and when a patch of armyworm damage showed up in September, a service call took care of it before it spread. You chose the plan that matched the problems your lawn actually had, and it shows.

What to Do Next

Start by listing what your lawn deals with: shade, insects, fire ants, brown patches in fall, compacted soil, or none of the above. If it is healthy and sunny, Essential may be all you need. If insects are a concern, start with Pro. If you are fighting several problems at once, look at Elite. Then ask for a quote based on your measured lawn.

If you would rather have someone else handle the plan and the schedule, we are here for that. Lawn Squad of Cypress & Tomball is coming in 2027 to serve homeowners across Cypress, Tomball, Hockley, Magnolia, Pinehurst, and northwest Houston. Visit lawnsquad.com to request a free quote. Our VitaminLawn program is built for the grass types, soils, and weather patterns we deal with here.

Here is what to expect. We will walk your lawn, look closely at any patches or thin areas, and talk through your watering, mowing, and fertilizing habits. Then we will explain what we think is happening, what we would treat, and what you can change to help. If your lawn does not need a treatment, we will tell you that honestly.
